JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Product Manager develops and manages the strategy and research and development activities and drives the development and execution of divisional strategy through products, services, or ideologies by performing the following duties personally or external resources.

ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:
•Lead the organization in upstream product management processes and techniques.  As Product Managers are onboarded at Midmark, the development of effective field techniques to uncover latent customer problems is required.  The Senior Product Manager will ensure that the department delivers consistent and effective customer data to the organization.
•Gathers ideas and suggestions for new products from the customers, teammates, Idea Portal, etc. and manages the division’s concept repository with the Director of Upstream Marketing for evaluation and preliminary determination of project value to the organization.
•Determines proper market and product segmentation with the Director of Upstream Marketing.  
•Assists in leading the division in product and technology roadmap creation so future product technology directions are more easily anticipated.
•Directly responsible for customer focus groups, advisory boards, and other customer research collection methods.
•Directly responsible for the leadership (and ownership) of a project from ideation, through the business case phase, and then being the lead marketing teammate through the product development phase, working with the engineering manager.    He/She will communicate with downstream Marketing Manager during the early phases and development phase to ensure a successful launch into the market.
•Directly responsible for the development and ownership of the Concept and Feasibility and Definition phases within the new product development process.
•Works closely with a Marketing Manager to generate field support materials for and trains the sales organization and also develop copy for ads, literature, promotional programs, price lists, and other marketing tools.
•Initiates, manages, analyzes, translates, and presents research information to the Director of Upstream Marketing.  Recommends direction or changes to marketing mix based on research results.
•Will at times work closely with business development in the review and due diligence of business opportunities, such as partnerships or acquisitions.
•Works closely with the new product development teams to ensure that the product(s) comply with established specifications at a cost permitting acceptable gross margins and net income to the company.
•Assistance with Key Account Management. 
•Assist in the development and execution of the divisional strategic plan
•Support divisional GM/VP and Director of Marketing with development and delivery of presentation materials.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
•Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a business or technical field, preferably an MBA, in marketing or a related discipline, or three to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPETENCY/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 
•Performance of financial and quantitative analysis
•Demonstrated leadership skills
•Prior field based customer experience is preferred
•Budgets, forecasts, analysis
•Strong analytical and financial skills
•Demonstrated ability to identify and realize new opportunities.
•Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Formal presentation skills a definite plus.
•Must be able to accomplish results in a cross-functional team environment, exhibiting formal and informal leadership skills and a strong goal/results orientation.
•Technical competency (software, computer, engineering) is desirable
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position has a direct report and is responsible for hiring, coaching and development, and termination of teammates.
