JOB SUMMARY:
The Engineering Manager will lead functional areas in Product Engineering to deliver new products on time, on budget, and within quality targets.  The manager will also be responsible for adherence to NPD process, regulatory requirements of new products, and teammate development within the functional area.  A successful manager in this role will lead an engineering team engaged in multiple project initiatives.  The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the technical development of the Teammates reporting to them.  The manager will make resource allocation decisions along with other Engineering Managers and Product Management as to how best develop and resource projects in the portfolio.  

ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:
 
  • Develop the technical skill level of the teammates within engineering function.
  • Provide in the moment honest feedback to assist in teammate development.
  • Coach MPS theme work in effort to double NPD capacity.
  • Accountability to the technical and design management of assigned current and new products.  This is accomplished by the effective application of appropriate Engineering, Scientific, and Design Technologies and Management techniques.
  • Partners with Engineering Managers Product and other organizational functions to meet departmental and organizational goals.
  • Through appropriate engagement and education maintain up-to-date knowledge in all areas of responsibility.
  • Develop standards and processes to improve functional performance and effectiveness of team.
  • Ultimately responsible for the delivery of engineering capability to satisfy product design demands of the organization.


SECONDARY DUTIES:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor degree in engineering field with 6 years of related experience
  • Minimum 2 years management/supervision/mentorship experience

COMPETENCY/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Demonstrates leadership skills within their current rol
  • Led projects within engineering or a closely related field
  • Has expanded their engineering and organizational awareness by completing rotational assignments in different departments/divisions throughout the organization
  • Process improvement 
  • Demonstrated understanding of MPS through execution of theme work

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Extensive supervisory responsibility in a functional domain, i.e. electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, etc.
