JOB SUMMARY:
The Application Research and Technology (ART) Group at Midmark seeks an experimental scientist/engineer to take on a key role within our advanced R&D effort.  Midmark is a leading provider of medical, dental and veterinary equipment solutions focused on continuously improving exam room workflow and enhancing patient-caregiver interactions.  As a member of our ART Group, you will work on Opto-electromechanical systems/devices, signal processing, imaging applications, and other medical device development for our medical, dental, and veterinary markets.

ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Solving cutting-edge technical challenges related to optical design, opto-electromechanical system design, signal processing, and medical device research.
  • Ownership and lead responsibility related to the design, development, testing and delivery of integration of technology project outcomes into Midmark products.
  • Adherence to and active participation in the continuous improvement of all research and product development policies and processes
  • Experimentation and investigation of new concepts and technologies for application potential in the markets that Midmark serve.
  • Participate in the analysis, model building, and system integration of project outcomes.
  • Algorithm development in the fields of image and signal processing, machine learning, and data science.
  • SECONDARY DUTIES:
  • Lead research projects
  • Participate in budgeting and project planning
  • Electronic design
  • Firmware development

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • M.Sc. degree in Physics or related STEM discipline with 3+ years of experience in an R&D environment. Ph.D. preferred.

COMPETENCY/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Proven ability to build, debug, and operate complex experimental setups
  • Experience in the development of optical and opto-electromechanical systems, X-ray systems, and other imaging systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in signal and image processing is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in computer vision is highly desirable.
  • Ability to communicate methods and results to both technical and nontechnical audiences verbally and in writing
  • Algorithm development and physiological signal modeling.
